Studio Brief 3 - Research

For this brief we have to use Adobe Indesign to put together at least 5 double page spreads, one for each the five areas we have researched. The finished bound publication will need to be a multiple of 4 pages.

I have started researching page layout design and looking for inspiration online.

I found these page layout designs below and really like the idea of having large text on one page of the double page spread, perhaps on a coloured background and an image on the other page. I think that this would work well for presenting the opinions I have gathered.

Something that I don't want to do is overload any of the pages with too much text. I want to keep the text quite minimal so I would like spread the text over a couple of columns on the page similar to some of these layouts I have found in my research. I think this keeps it more interesting for the reader by breaking it up and having a couple of columns on text and then some images on the next page.

I have found a number of page layouts  where images are spread across both pages of the double page spread which I really like the look of. Although I am aware that the printer that we will be printing off doesn’t print full bleed images and would leave a white border around the edge so I don’t think this would work for my double page spreads. I also really like the way that they have overlayed blocks of colour over the images and this is something I am thinking about incoporating within my book as I think it looks really interesting.
